Humans
Druazir-Ranta - - Port Charter Culture
Coastal Human
Homeland: Ranta (coasts, deltas, and lighthouse chains).
Government: Harbor Charters. Tidewardens enforce docking law and salvage rights; elected harbor-masters manage tolls and emergency stores.
Society: Boatwrights, pilots, and coastal traders. A Ranta charter teaches that the sea is a neighbor, not a wilderness - respect it and it will carry you; disrespect it and it will collect its due.
Buildings: Breakwater towns, tide-gates, beacon towers, and raised warehouses. Court chambers are built beside the docks so judgments can be witnessed by the working folk.
Trade:
• Export: Pilots, ferries, coastal shipping services, and salt-cured goods.
• Import: Timber, inland grain, and high-quality rope and canvas.
Lineage Traits
• Experience: Harbor Pilot +2 (currents, moorings, coastal navigation).
• Resistance: Thunder (reduce thunder harm by 1).
• Weapon: Trident proficiency.
• Bonus Language: Ranta.
Expanded Lore
Druazir-Ranta are coastal charter humans shaped by harbors, storms, river mouths, and the law of safe return. Their towns are loud with trade but strict beneath the noise: dock schedules, pilot rights, storm bells, salvage claims, quarantine rules, and lighthouse duties are treated as civic survival rather than paperwork. They are often the first people outsiders meet when arriving by sea, and they know exactly how much can be learned from the way a ship ties off.
Appearance & Bearing
They favor salt-resistant fabrics, layered wraps, bright harbor colors, waterproofed boots, and charms or knots tied for safe passage. Sailors, pilots, fishers, port scribes, and dock guards all wear different marks, but almost everyone carries a knife, a cord, and some token of home meant to be touched before rough water.
Society: & Daily Life
Ranta human settlements are run through port charters and harbor councils. Families may rise through fishing, shipping, boatbuilding, law, or lighthouse service, but prestige depends on reliability in bad weather. A wealthy merchant who abandons a crew loses standing faster than a poor pilot who brings strangers through a storm. Hospitality is generous at the table and merciless at the ledger; both are forms of honesty.
Traditions & Tensions
Their festivals follow tides, first launches, storm survivals, and the return of long-missing ships. Their grudges often involve piracy, false salvage, poisoned harbors, or inland rulers who treat the coast as a purse rather than a people. Adventurers from these towns become navigators, smugglers with consciences, wreck-divers, lighthouse heirs, sea-priests, caravan factors, or witnesses carrying news between ports before rumor can do harm.
