Druthal-Suo - - Fogbound Court

Swamp Elf

Homeland: Suo marsh courts, flood-basin enclaves, and root-lashed sanctums

Government: Suo Courts split and re-form more often than other Courts. Leadership varies by enclave, but Voices and Elders still exist where treaties are honored.

Society: Private and wary. They practice controlled hospitality and practical survival. Outsiders rarely see more than what the enclave intends to show.

Buildings: Raised walkways, root-lashed halls, fog-screen courtyards, and sealed sanctums built to endure flood seasons.

Trade:

• Export: Rare reeds and resins, swamp-brew reagents, specialist craft materials, guide work through floodlands

• Import: Grain, salt, worked tools, lamp oils

Lore & Background

Suo - The Fogbound Court

Suo Druthal developed within the wetlands and marsh systems associated with Mirosh: places where water, earth, decay, medicine, poison, fertility, and transformation overlap.

Their culture does not regard rot as automatically unclean.

Rot feeds new growth.

Poison in one measure kills.

In another, it heals.

Flood destroys one settlement and creates fertile ground elsewhere.

This worldview shaped Suo traditions around:

medicine

careful toxin use

funeral rites

wetland law

controlled access

knowledge of transformation

Their Court culture is less centralized than many others because marshland itself resists rigid borders.

A channel that marks a boundary this year may disappear next season.

A settlement may need to move.

A road may become a lake.

For Suo Druthal, adaptable law is not weak law.

It is competent law.

Relationship with the Aldaemir

The existence of the Swamp Court does not make the wetlands Druthal territory.

Aldaemir peoples possess their own ancient sovereignty, customs, and water law.

Modern Suo Druthal are expected to understand this distinction.

Where relations are healthy, Suo Druthal and Aldaemir cooperate in:

medicine

flood warnings

passage

ecological protection

shared defense

Where they are poor, the argument usually begins with someone forgetting that stewardship does not grant the right to speak for another people.

Modern Suo Identity

Suo culture values caution, privacy, and layered meaning.

Outsiders sometimes describe them as secretive.

Suo Druthal tend to answer that not everything hidden is dishonest.

Some things are hidden because exposure destroys them.
